A graduate from Pondicherry University (JIPMER), India in 2003, Dr Subramanian was awarded a Gold Medal for standing first in pathology in his MD examinations in 2007.

He underwent training in clinical and laboratory haematology at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India before relocating to Australia in 2010. Dr Subramanian became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 2013 after undergoing further training in clinical and laboratory haematology as a registrar across multiple sites in South Australia (Royal Adelaide Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Australian Red Cross Blood Service and Flinders Medical Centre).

He then joined Melbourne Pathology as a Haematologist in early 2014. He has special interest in morphological diagnosis and flow cytometry. Dr Subramanian also became an associate fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, after completing his training in 2015.

He is a member of the International Society of Laboratory Haematology (ISLH), Society of Haematopathology, American Society of Haematology (ASH), Haematology Society of Australia & New Zealand (HSANZ), Australia & New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion (ANZSBT), and the Australasian Society of Thrombosis & Haemostasis (ASTH).

Dr Subramanian is available for advice in all aspects of laboratory haematology including provision of bone marrow biopsies.
